OMG, what can I say about the food in Italy. Where do I begin? The food was so fresh and skillfully prepared. I was inspired by the simple ingredients of their pastas, most didn’t have meat in them, but they were so hearty that it really hit the spot. Also, it didn’t leave us with the bloated stuffed feeling that we normally get when we would eat the same foods at home. It was a cleaner way of eating Italian food and it was delicious.
We went all out when it came to desserts, we indulged in delicious sweets and gelato every day and sometimes twice a day. I’m so glad I was eating clean prior to this trip because I definitely came home with a few extra pounds. But it was well worth it!
In Florence, we were passing by this alley where there were two lines of people spilling out onto the next street. When we went to investigate we found out that this little hole in the wall sandwich place called All’antico Vinaio was the most reviewed restaurant in the world in 2014 on TripAdvisor. So we waited in line for over an hour to see what all the fuss was about. It did not disappoint. The sandwiches had such bold rich flavors from the cured meats to the fresh grilled vegetables, and the amazing cheeses it was well worth the wait!
