Not knowing what to expect in Florence, it quickly became my favorite city in Italy. The charm of the city mixed with the modernization made me feel at home. Not as big or as busy as Rome, Florence is a great place to eat, drink and shop.

The bridge was another interesting thing to see, this is where the jewelry district is and they have little shops that are built into the actual bridge. Not sure how they can stand the competition since they seem to all sell the same type of jewelry.

One of the things I really wanted to see while in Florence was Micheangleos’ David. Sculpted out of one huge piece of marble, you can see the veins running through is arms and legs. It was one of those “WOW” moments in your life when you witness something so grand. The David statue represents a boy warrior being presented as a man for the first time. It’s a coming of age and it was magnificent.
