Dim sum

I never realized how much I missed Asian food until I moved to Sweden. That’s the thing right? You don’t know how good it is until it’s gone. I never really thought about the amount of Asian food I consumed until I didn’t have it readily available anymore. I will say the Asian food I’ve had thus far in Sweden has been subpar, which is strange because there are a lot of Asian people here, more than you would think. So on my last trip to the US, I took advantage of all the Asian food I could get my hands on. I really wanted Pho, but for the short time I was there, I was able to get some really delicious dim sum and Korean BBQ.

When I travel with work I normally get sent to the East coast and hardly ever to the West, but this time was different. I had a meeting in Foster City, California so I was able to stop in to see one of my dearest friends. We tried this dim sum restaurant in Palo Alto called Tai Pan and it was delicious.

We ordered the normal spread of items such as pork Siu Mai, pork spare ribs, roasted duck, shrimp dumplings, pork steamed buns and noodle rolls. I was in dim sum heaven. This restaurant was a bit more upscale than I was used to for a dim sum place, but it definitely hit the spot.

Next up was Korean BBQ…yum! I love Korean food, it must have been all my time spent in Ktown in Los Angeles that really made me appreciate this amazing culture’s cuisine. Everything is packed with flavor and spices. You can’t help but to love Korean food!

One of the things I love most about Korean food is the Banchan! All the little marinated and fermented side dishes that comes before the food as an appetizer. Most places will give this to you without having to order it and will refill as needed.
