Zuhair Murad

In honor of spring and the fast approaching wedding season, this week will be wedding week on the blog! I’ll be recapping some of my favorite moments and things I did to personalize my wedding. I can’t believe how fast the time has gone by! I feel like my wedding was just yesterday!

Saying “Yes To The Dress” has become a famous phrase due to the ever popular TV reality show that follows brides as they try on wedding dresses at Kleinfeld in NYC. They understand how important selecting the perfect wedding dress is for anyone getting married.

When it came time for me to find a wedding dress I never thought about the type of dress I wanted, I only knew that I had adjectives to describe how I wanted it to look: elegant, regal and romantic. With my 4’11” curvy frame, I didn’t know what to expect. I wanted to feel like princess on my wedding day.

My sister who was also my maid-of-honor managed to arrange a bridal visit at Kleinfeld bridal shop on our visit to New York. It was surreal to be in the store I had seen on TV. I even saw some of the ladies that are regularly filmed on the show!

With it being the first time I was trying on wedding dresses, I didn’t know how to describe what I wanted. All I knew was that it had to have sleeves, I didn’t want strapless. I think strapless wedding dresses are beautiful, but I always saw myself with sleeves of some type.

Ultimately, they didn’t give me the butterflies I was looking for…

I did come very close to falling in love with one of them. A spectacular Zuhair Murad dress. I had seen some of his designs on celebrities and thought they were so ethereal. So I had to try one while I was at Kleinfeld!

This dress was a dream and so gorgeous. Part of me could see myself in this dress, but part of me wasn’t a 100% sold on it. The full skirt was a bit more than I wanted and if you’ve ever been to a Macedonian wedding, you’d know there is a lot of dancing. There would be no way I could move easily in this full skirt.

I walked out of Kleinfeld without a dress, but with my spirits lifted. I knew the perfect dress for me was out there. A special “thank you” to you my wonderful sister for arranging this incredible experience.
