On September 26th, I had my first interview in Sweden. It was with a recruiter for a start up technology company that specializes in clinical trial software in Malmö. The company was looking for a Key Account Manager to go after the big pharmaceutical companies. With my background as a pharmaceutical representative, I used clinical trials daily as a selling tool so I was really interested in working for them.
After that initial interview with the recruiter, I had 2 additional rigorous interviews with the CEO and VP of Sales, a psychoanalysis test, a number of reference checks from past bosses and colleagues from the US and contract negotiations,… they have offered me the position and this past Tuesday I formally accepted! That is right, I have a job!!!! Yay!!! WooHoo!!! If you could see me, I’m jumping and dancing around my computer. LOL!
It’s a huge relief to know I am going to be able to financially contribute to our lives. Not having a job and not feeling financially independent has been tough. Daniel has been so good getting us settled in our new lives that I didn’t want to remain jobless for very long. He always tells me to trust him and that everything will be alright and so far he is right. He’s been my rock and he believes in me so much more than I do myself. He keeps me motivated and pushes me beyond my perceived limitations and for that I am so thankful to him. It was difficult finding a job that didn’t require knowing the local language much tougher than I had expected. With a little luck and perseverance it all worked out. Let’s just hope I can be as successful here in Sweden. Here’s to another new adventure!
