Fall is in full swing and the weather proves it. It has been cold and rainy all week and it doesn’t look like it will let up anytime soon. This week’s forecast is: rain. In cold climate places like Sweden this means women must cover their legs with stockings. I have a love & hate relationship with them. I love the patterns and the different ways they can accessorize an outfit. They can make your casual outfit a bit more dressy or more put together. But I hate that they are one of the most uncomfortable things in the world! They never fit quite right even if they are the correct size and length. And what is up with the high control top waistband? I know I can buy ones without them, but then they roll and slide all over the place. Also, when wearing a patterned pair of stockings, getting them perfect could be a battle. In movies, women in stockings are seen as sexy, mysterious, classy… but they never show the part about how the woman has to wiggle and struggle to get them on! I bet you would think otherwise if you saw this… at least it did for my boyfriend! LOL! Another thing, the waistbands to hold them in place usually have elastic in them, which I am highly allergic to. I wore a pair of houndstooth patterned stockings this week to school and a job interview, by the time I got home in the afternoon and took them off, I had an itchy red rash around my waist. It was horrible. But going barelegged here is not an option. You have to wear stockings because if you don’t you’ll look like a fool. And it isn’t sexy to see a leggy girl that is shivering and freezing. I never wore stockings in Los Angeles unless it was for fun or to pull together an outfit. It rained one week out of the year and we really didn’t have seasons. It was either warm or hot year round… which was amazing! No stockings and stiletto heels all day everyday. Missing LA a lot right now!
