Nothing brings me more joy than visiting the local castles around our city. It still amazes me that I live in a country with a royal family and where castles are still operating a few miles away. It makes this girl with Cinderella syndrome very happy! 🙂

The first castle we visited was Ellinge Castle which is also where Purity Vodka is distilled. Too bad this distillery isn’t open to the public. It would be amazing if we could do a little vodka tasting like they do at the wineries. Purity Vodka has developed a unique still system specifically for vodka production. During the thirty-four distillations, ninety percent of the liquid is lost. The remaining spirit is so refined that no filtration is necessary, leaving all the natural flavors and character in the vodka.

Next stop is a castle I’ve been to many times, but love it more each time I see it, Trollenäs Castle. It is known since the 14th century, and has been in the ownership of only two families, Thott and Trolle. The current building goes back to 1559 and was in the late 19th century renovated by architect Ferdinand Meldahl to resemble a French Renaissance castle.
