UT Card

I received my UT card today!!! This means that I can legally stay in the country. Many people have asked me how I am living in Sweden. Well, I am on what they call a “Sambo” visa, many people have called it the “love” visa. This means that your partner from a different county is able to live in Sweden without needing to be married. The Swedish person must show that they can financially support you and that you will are willing to become a contributing member of society, freeloaders need not apply.

It’s an amazing program and I am so thankful for it. There isn’t anything like this in the United States. Once I receive my personal number which is equivalent to our social security number I can go to school to learn Swedish and apply for jobs. What is also wonderful about this country… I now have healthcare! Free healthcare is provided by the government, which is incredible. The people here are very happy and I can see why. It’s not the rat race that we have back home and there truly is a middle-class. It reminds me when I was growing up in neighborhoods where kids still played outside and rode their bikes. So far I’m liking what I’m seeing Sweden, thanks for letting me in! 😉
