I will be the first to admit that I haven’t been the best at recycling in the past. I have no excuse other than the fact that it didn’t really cross my mind too much. Plastics were thrown along with everything else. Not very green of me, I know, but that is going to have to change here. Sweden is very earth conscience and green. Daniel works for a “green technology” company for smart homes, so I guess I better get with the program. The city will punish you with fines if you don’t separate your garbage. All food products and plastics have their own sides of the trash can!
As with any move you collect tons of large boxes. The box that our TV came in was massive and some of our other furniture came in oversize boxes as well. Breaking down the boxes and putting them in the recycle bin isn’t going to cut it. You have to bring your recyclables to a recycle yard. I’ve never been to one of these before. I’m sure we have something similar in the US, but this was a new experience for me. When you drive up to this recycle yard, there are signs that tells you what goes into each container. It’s quite the sight. This is a start for me not to be so wasteful, I even got a reusable water bottle… baby steps. 😉
